Veteran showbiz reporter Lolit Solis on Tuesday, July 5 sarcastically commended Maid in Malacañang star Ella Cruz for her very controversial statement.
Previously, Cruz received criticism after she likened history to rumors.
“History is like tsismis. It is filtered and dagdag na rin, so, hindi natin alam what is the real history. Andoon na iyong idea, pero may mga bias talaga. As long as we’re here, alive at may kanya-kanyang opinion, I respect everyone’s opinion,” said the Viva artist in an interview.
During the Take it! Take it! Me Ganon?! episode, Solis perceived it as an “excellent” strategy to boost the public presence of Cruz, whom she considered a “starlet.”
“Alam mo, bilib ako sa utak niya,” said the showbiz reporter to her co-host Mr. Fu. “Imagine mo, isa siyang walang kakwentang-kwentang istarlet na ngayon ay pinag-uusapan na.”
Solis then added, “Ang galing ‘di ba? Talagang sino ang makakaisip no’n? Tinalbugan niya talaga lahat. Biruin mo biglang tsuk! Sino siya? Nag-react lahat! Dahil hindi mo akalain na isa palang bobita na ganitong kabobong tao.”

Mr. Fu agreed as he and Solis were the Pambansang Marites, and what they shared with the public were rumors. He even reminded the talent that history and gossip are two different things.
“Basta Ella Cruz, alamin natin, ang history ay history, tsismis ay tsismis. Magkaiba iyon. History is based on facts. Ang tsismis, eto, nagtsitsismisan tayo. Magkaiba iyon, hindi natin p’wedeng i-intertwine. Pero congratulations kasi napag-usapan ka, trending ka ngayon.”
Meanwhile, Cristy Fermin defended Cruz. She pointed out that the public put malice on the statement, not the artist.
“Alam mo, Romel, wala akong nakikitang masama dito. Ginagamit ko nga ‘yan e pagka New Year’s resolution. ‘Ano ang New Year’s resolution mo?’ ‘Ay naku, it’s like history, it repeats itself,” explained Fermin to Romel Chika during an episode of Cristy Ferminute.
“Ang ganda naman ng pagkasabi ni Ella, ‘di ba? Minsan may tinatanggal, minsan may idinadagdag at depende po sa pananaw ng nagbibigay ng interpretasyon kung may bias o wala,” she added.
Furthermore, Fermin also sees it as a press release for Cruz’s upcoming movie Maid in Malacañang.
The movie, which controversial content creator Darryl Yap directed, will be released this month.
It stars Cruz along with Ruffa Gutierrez, Cesar Montano, Diego Loyzaga, and Christine Reyes who will portray the Marcoses. Elizabeth Oropesa, Karla Estrada, and Beverly Salviejo will play the housemaids of the Marcos family.
