Former Eat Bulaga co-hosts Joey de Leon and Toni Gonzaga are set to reunite in the movie The Teacher, directed by Paul Soriano.
On Friday, July 8, the MMFF committee announced The Teacher starring Joey de Leon and Toni Gonzaga, as one of the first four official film entries to the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival in December, which also includes; Labyu with an Accent starring Coco Martin and Jodi Sta Maria, Nanahimik ang Gabi starring Ian Veneracion, Mon Confiado, and Heaven Peralejo and Partners in Crime starring Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi.
This will be the first time Joey and Toni will work again on a project after Eat Bulaga.
It can be recalled that the two have a misunderstanding after Toni left the Kapuso noontime show to transfer to ABS-CBN.
But while the two have already reconciled in 2011 during Joey’s guesting in The Buzz, they haven’t had a chance to work together since then.
“Dati galit ka sa akin eh. Ngayon di ka na galit sa akin,” said Toni during de Leon’s The Buzz guesting.
“Hindi, ano ka ba. Di lang tayo nagkaintindihan. Hindi ako nagagalit sa’yo noon. Binibiro lang kita.
“O tignan mo naman, nung umalis ka umasenso ka,” he added, drawing laughter from the audience. “Kung di ka lumayas sa ‘Bulaga’ edi baka sa EB Babes ka na.
“Siyempre nalungkot kami nung nawala ka. Pero ngayon, napapanood pa rin naman kita eh,” Joey replied.
Meanwhile, Toni has also recently praised Joey for his witty joke on the inauguration of President Marcos Jr. and VP Sara Duterte-Carpio.
In a social media post, de Leon made a pun on why Marcos Jr. and Duterte emerged as the winners of the 2020 national elections.
“Bakit si BBM Presidente ngayon? Kasi after DU30, yung may 31 naman! After that DU30 TOO! Gets?” he said.

Toni Gonzaga, meanwhile, immediately commented on de Leon’s post saying “OG Henyo.”
