The two variety shows are airing back-to-back for the first time on TV5, A2Z, and Kapamilya Channel on July 16.
Better days are coming! That seems true for both It’s Showtime and Tropang LOL, which had their first back-to-back airing on TV5, A2Z Channel 11, and Kapamilya Channel on Saturday, July 16. In reality, such development is already good news for both, but with the reach of both shows on free TV and online–it set to expand in the days to come, it looks like what’s ahead is far more exciting.
It’s Showtime is expected to gain viewership as it airs on TV5 makes the show more accessible to Kapamilya audiences in ABS-CBN’s former bailiwicks in major uban centers outside Metro Manila. TV5 notably has more relay and originating stations than A2Z, which previously solely carried the show on free TV. It is interesting to note, however, that even with A2Z alone, It’s Showtime has beaten Lunch Out Loud, which is now called Tropang LOL, in AGB Nielsen’s people ratings.
Aside from expanding further on free TV via A2Z channel 11, Tropang LOL is also getting the much-needed audience boost online, where ABS-CBN has been lording since it started its digital pivot in 2020. The Brightlight Productions-produced show also headed to Kapamilya Online Live, the Kapamilya live stream on YouTube and Facebook, on the same day it premiered on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and iWantTFC.
The back-to-back airing of the two shows provided the audience with a showcase of extravagant and energetic opening production numbers. Tropang LOL began its program via a set of song and dance performances and comedy skits. Billy Crawford led the Tropang LOL pack with a sexy song-and-dance prod, while Wacky Kiray and Bayani Agbayani spread good vibes with their hilarious skits. KC Montero, Jeffrey Tam, and JD Axie, meanwhile, indulged viewers in their satisfying rap performance.
As for It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda was particularly regal with his explosive song number that highlighted his vocal prowess, and his elaborate and grand fashion expression. Jugs and Teddy made the live studio audience jive and dance with them with their Imagine Dragons number. In a lovely throwback performance, Ogie Alcasid and Amy Perez jived to Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling. Anne Curtis and Karylle were both explosive with their redpective Dual Lipa and Clean Bandiy numbers. Kim Chiu, Vhong Navarro, Jackie Gonzaga, Jhong Hilario, Ryan Bang, and Ion Perez ruled the dance floor.
Tropang LOL managed to draw more than 50,000 concurrent viewers on Kapamilya Online Live, and It’s Showtime unsurprisingly had nearly 100,000 concurrent live viewers from both Kapamilya Online Live and Showtime Online U streams on YouTube.
