GMA News and Public Affairs further cements its status as the Philippines’ most trusted broadcast news organization with its coverage of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.’s inauguration being the most watched by both viewers and netizens.
Based on Nielsen Philippines’ overnight TAM data for June 30, “Ang Inagurasyon: The GMA News and Public Affairs Special Coverage,” which aired on both GMA and GTV, posted a combined people net reach of 18.7 percent in Total Philippines, reaching more than 15.2 million viewers nationwide.
It was clearly ahead of its counterparts’ net reach with TV5’s 6.1 percent and A2Z/Kapamilya Channel’s 4.2 percent.
“Ang Inagurasyon: The GMA News and Public Affairs Special Coverage” also ruled in National Urban TV Audience Measurement (NUTAM) with a combined people net reach of 21.3 percent.
Online, GMA News’ livestream of the inauguration was ahead of competition, earning 1 million views on its Facebook page and 1.5 million views on GMA News’ YouTube channel.
For inauguration day, GMA News accounts were the most viewed Philippine news pages, with 10.7 million video views on Facebook and 4.8 million video views on YouTube, according to data from Tubular Labs. ABS-CBN News had 6.2 million views on Facebook and 1.9 million views on YouTube.
“Ang Inagurasyon: The GMA News and Public Affairs Special Coverage” was anchored by award-winning broadcast journalists Pia Arcangel and Atom Araullo. Providing up-to-the-minute reportage on television, radio, and online were GMA News and Public Affairs personnel, as well as the various news teams from GMA Regional TV and Super Radyo DZBB 594.
Earlier that day, GMA News gave updates starting from Unang Hirit’s Unang Balita in the morning. Following the inauguration rites of President Marcos, GMA’s primetime newscast 24 Oras and late-night news program Saksi continued to provide highlights of the event as well as the biggest news in and out of the National Museum.
On GMA’s second free-to-air channel, GTV, Filipinos were likewise informed through its various news programs. Dobol B TV extended its airtime to give viewers the latest updates leading to the inauguration rites. Meanwhile, the Network’s regional arm, GMA Regional TV (RTV), kept Kapuso in the regions well-informed and updated via “Ang Inagurasyon: The GMA Regional TV Special Coverage.” GMA RTV aired the special coverage on its award-winning local newscasts: GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan, GMA Regional TV Balitang Bicolandia, GMA Regional TV Balitang Southern Tagalog, GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas, GMA Regional TV One Mindanao, and its national newscast GMA Regional TV News. The inauguration was also seen via livestream on GMA Regional TV’s website www.gmaregionaltv.com and social media accounts.
GMA Regional TV’s reporters gave viewers news related to the inauguration, including the live viewing of the inauguration ceremonies in Marcos’ home province–Ilocos Norte.
