The show is reportedly gearing up for its finale in July, two months ahead of its 7th anniversary on air.
Amid rumors that the six-yeard-old Kapamilya show is finally bidding adieu next month, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano teased viewers about its upcoming 7th anniversary. The said teaser spawned speculations among netizens that the show won’t be ending next month and it is prepping up for its seventh year on air.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano debuted on ABS-CBN on September 28, 2015, making it the longest-running teleserye on Philippine television. The series is notably one of the very few local dramas, whose broadcast did not halt during the pandemic and after the ABS-CBN shutdown. The series aired its 1665th episode on June 30, 2022.
Despite its record-breaking streak on Kapamilya Online Live, where the show saw record-setting concurrent live viewers, are consistent rumors that the show is indeed taking its final bow. This month, veteran and award-winning actress and former ABS-CBN President, Charo Santos-Concio, joined the show as one of its new major cast members. This prompted netizens to speculate about FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s television farewell, to give way for the airing of the highly-anticipated ABS-CBN TV adaptation of the Mars Ravelo classic, Darna.
However, while such rumors continue to gain volume, an official confirmation from ABS-CBN is yet to be released. Until then, many viewers of the show will continue to dismiss the possibility of saying goodbye to their favorite Kapamilya show anytime soon, especially now that things about the new story arc have just started to catch fire.
The said teaser plug showed a montage of the past character posters of Coco Martin, representing the past seasons of the show.
On Monday, July 4, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano goes head-to-head with Lolong, the 22nd show pitted by GMA Network against the Kapamilya drama, since 2015. Will Lolong be the last? The teaser plug suggests it may not.
