On July 8, Kapamilya Director Theodore Boborol discussed his track record of launching successful love teams.
During the media conference for Star Magic Studios’ first produced movie, Connected, Boborol said the success of the Kapamilya love teams he worked with was because of their hard work.
“Again it’s really not about me, for me hindi siya tungkol sa akin, it’s really tungkol sa kanila. Kung sumikat man ‘yung mga nilaunch ko, it’s because of their hardwork. ‘Yun talaga, ‘yun naman talaga. Kung walang follow up after ni-launch, tinatatamad-tamad, nagiging unprofessional or– sino bang gusto maka-work ‘yung ganon.”
He also noted that he only opened doors for the new artists and their careers while citing that he works well with new stars.
“Para sa akin ino-open ko lang ‘yung doors, ino-open lang ng Star Magic studios ‘yung door for them na kapag nakita ng producers ‘tong movie na ‘to, hopefully, sasabihin nila ‘oh pwede pa lang i-cast ito sa teleserye.’ Pwede pa lang ganito ‘yung role nito.
“I think it’s not for me to answer– but I think ‘yung sa mga tao, tignan na lang nila ‘yung Filmography ko sa Internet, and tignan nila kung– ang yabang ng dating, cancelled na ko. Pero, hindi naman, siguro I work well with newbies ganon na lang siguro, siguro that’s my strength.”
Boborol also talked about the Kapamilya stars he’s launching with their upcoming movie, Connected.
“Alam mo naman sa showbiz, it’s not just about seeing that potential or X-factor, kailangan din may hardwork, kailangan may determination, professionalism and doon naman nila ako napahanga noong nag-start na ‘yung project na ‘to.”
He also recalled the strategies he used in launching successful love teams such as LizQuen (Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil), JoshLia (Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto), and LoiNie (Loisa Andallo and Ronnie Alonte).
“Ang idea ko talaga, since nag direk na rin ako ng mga newbies before sila LizQuen, JoshLia, noong nag-iistart pa lang sila– sila Blythe, or even LoiNie, kailangan hindi talaga malayo sa personality nila, so ang naging strategy namin ng writer is ininterview namin sila one on one, in depth interview, and binase namin sa real life stories nila ‘yung back story ng character.”
Connected is the first movie produced by Star Magic Studios and stars Andi Abaya, Kobie Brown, Ralph Malibunas, Gail Banawis, Chico Alicaya, Amanda Zamora, and Richard Juan.
Under the direction of Theodore Boborol, Connected streams on July 22 via KTX, iWantTFC, TFC IPTV Video on Demand, and Sky Cable pay-per-view.
