Star Magic head Direk Laurenti Dyogi at a virtual media conference Friday, July 1, stated that the talent arm of ABS-CBN is finding ways to give opportunities to each and every one of their talents who are “ready to conquer new heights.”
The Kapamilya Network launched its Star Magic 30: Beyond the Stars that includes a mix of young and seasoned artists in Kim Chiu, Zanjoe Marudo, Andrea Brillantes, Carlo Aquino, Maymay Entrata, Charlie Dizon, Edward Barber, Donny Pangilinan, Alexa Ilacad, Belle Mariano, KD Estrada, Maris Racal, and Gigi De Lana.
“Well, all the opportunities are open to our artists,” said Direk Lauren.
He can’t deny that there were challenges in choosing which of their talents should join the tour. According to the Star Magic head, the pandemic gave a set of limitations regarding how they will approach this upcoming event.
“The only limitation that we have right now is, of course, the schedule; some are really busier than the others, and some have commitments. Our protocols are harder right now; like our artists getting to lock in. That’s why some of the stars wouldn’t join the tour because of their commitments in Manila.
“Unlike before wherein we could do one project, and do another, almost simultaneously. Now, our artists can only concentrate on one because of the strict protocols that we implement for our shows and our tapings,” he explained.
Despite the struggles, Direk Lauren stressed that Star Magic will continue to “create opportunities to a mix of artists, not only the singers, the performers” who are “willing to take on the challenge of new opportunities and new challenges, we would give them the right tools as they conquer new heights.”
Meanwhile, the chosen artists that will join the tour are meant to bring fresh faces to Kapamilya supporters in the US, with the guidance of seasoned talents.
“Well, after two years, we want something new, we wanna see something new, so to speak. So we’re bringing in our new stars. But also we have our reliable stars. We have Kim, we have Zanjoe, and we have Carlo as part of the team.
“So they will be the ones heading this concert. We have the younger ones, who, in the past two years, have been very active on social media, on broadcast, and everywhere. So this is a mix of our reliables, our old ones, our solid artists, and the new upcoming artists of Star Magic,” Direk Lauren shared.
Continuing the tradition.
The 2022 US Tour is an effort to continue the tradition that Star Magic, during Johnny Manahan’s time, has implemented: developing talents and bringing them closer to the international caliber. Direk Lauren pointed out that this time, the Kapamilya talent arm is adding the power of the digital platform.
“We’re creating our content, we’re very active on social media, we’re encouraging all our artists to be active on social media, and we’re now entering the new phase of getting to the live shows again. Star Magic will definitely create content for our artists and a lot of our projects would be a way of marketing them not only in the Philippines and TFC but globally.”
He continued, “When we go to the States this coming August, we’ve also planned out some immersion programs for them, and some workshops that they can take on. So that we can also elevate their artistry and their craft so that they’re ready to conquer the world and be part of the global arena of international artists.”
Star Magic 30: Beyond the Stars will kick off on July 23 at the Newport Performing Arts Center. Then from August 6, 12, and 14, they will be at the King’s Theater, Warfield Theater, and Saban Theatre.
