Direk GB Sampedro recalls feedback about his series ‘High On Sex’

On July 9, award-winning director GB Sampedro recalled some of the feedback he received about his series Vivamax original series, High On Sex.

During the media conference for the remaining episodes of High On Sex, Sampedro said he received positive feedback from people he knew, noting that his series was ‘refreshing.’

They find it refreshing na kahit sexy ‘yung tema eh comedy siya. Very now ‘yung setting, medyo maganda naman ‘yung feedback.”

However, he admitted that he received criticisms such as, “Although minsan naman may mga feedback sa akin na medyo parang sobra daw ‘yung mga sex scenes ko, pero ganon talaga eh.”

He then revealed how he prepares his actors for sexy scenes through their scripts, workshops, and meetings.

“First namin ano ay papadalhan muna namin ng script, and then as soon as mabasa nila ‘yung script, nag-schedule na ako ng one on one meeting sa mga cast.

He also shared the lengths he goes through to make his actors feel comfortable and safe on set while filming sex scenes.

“So I make sure na napagusapan namin lahat and pag natapos na ‘yung meeting na ‘yan, sometimes we go back for workshops para mas face to face naming pinag uusapan ‘yung eksena.

He highlighted that he prefers filming sensitive scenes as quickly as possible for their benefit.

“I make sure also na hindi ako nagsho-shoot ng sobra-sobra or nagsho-shoot ng hindi kailangan. So time ko pag nagshoot ako ng mga sex scenes, kahit na itanong ninyo sa mga artista ko, maiksi lang, as in kung ano lang ‘yung kailangan ko, ‘yun na ‘yun. Hindi ko na kailangan ng mga maraming extra shots, mga safety shots, as long as alam ko na ‘yung gusto ko, nakuha ko na, okay na ‘yun.

“So I make sure na quick lang ‘yung eksena, mabilis, para sa amin din ng mga artista ‘yun. Kasi, hindi naman talaga siya ganon kakomportable, na magshoot ng mga ganitong eksena, so kung hindi komportable sa artista, kahit sa akin bilang director, siyempre minsan mayroon din akong uncomfortable na feeling pag gumagawa ng ganyan, so I make sure na very professional ang lahat.”

Finally, he stressed, “I do respect the artists, ako naman hindi ako magsho-shoot ng isang bagay na ayaw ng artista, or nakakaviolate sa kanila.”

Catch the remaining episodes of the High On Sex directed by GB Sampedro and starring Wilbert Ross, Katrina Dovey, Angela Morena, and Denise Esteban on Vivamax every Sunday.
