Kyle Echarri revealed on Tuesday, July 19, that there was an instance that his screen name could have been different if he agreed to a suggestion: he should not use his last name.
Instead of Kyle Echarri, it could have been Kyle Garcia.
In the press conference of his latest project, Lyric and Beat, Echarri started by sharing his dream of bringing fame to his family name. He initially wanted to be a professional football player just to make his dream come true.
“But, one dream that I ever had since I was younger, since nasa school pa ako, I wanted to be a football player. Kasi I wanted to make my last name famous. ‘Yun ang pinaka-goal ko, ‘yun talaga ang pinaka-pangarap ko, ang mapalaki ang Echarri family.”
But when he joined the singing competition The Voice Philippines at age 11, he was told that he should use his mother’s maiden name, which is Garcia.
His response was, “Sabi ko talaga ayoko po talaga.”
Echarri’s request did not fall on deaf ears as he could keep his last name. After exiting The Voice Philippines, he continued making a name for himself as Kyle Echarri.
“So natuwa po ako noong hindi po pinalitan. At yun nga, nadala ko na ang last name ko, which is always been my dream, to bring my family with me.”
His first acting stint was in 2015 when he joined the cast of the Kapamilya series On The Wings of Love, led by Nadine Lustre and James Reid. He then got his big break after starring in the 2018 series Kadenang Ginto and was paired with Francine Diaz.
Now, he is on a solo journey, leaving the “loveteam phase.” He stars in the musical series Lyric and Beat with his fellow Gold Squad members Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin.
The series also includes Darren Espanto, AC Bonifacio, Nyoy Volante, Agot Isidro, Joanna Ampil, Sheena Belarmino, Jeremy Glinoga, and Angela Ken.
Under the helm of Dolly Dulu, the digital show will begin its streaming in August on iWantTFC.
