Controversial content creator-turned-filmmaker Darryl Yap slammed online critics who are bitter about his upcoming project under Viva Films, Maid in Malacañang.
Previously, Yap announced that Diego Loyzaga, Cristine Reyes, and Ella Cruz will play the Marcos siblings—Bongbong, Imee, and Irene, respectively. Ruffa Gutierrez will play Imelda Marcos and Cesar Montano will be Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Their movie casting earned mixd reactions from supporters and critics.
On June 23, Yap shared a screenshot of a facebook post from a user named Kervin Karl Diamante, who changed the cast of Yap’s film.
Diamante’s satire post replaced the siblings’ faces. He presented his casting with Ai-Ai delas Alas as Imee, Ken Jeong as Bongbong, and Toni Gonzaga as Irene.
Yap expressed his ire over Diamante’s post and said it is ironic that the post came from ‘woke’ netizens who condemn ad hominems attacks.
Yap also got tagged as a pedophile, which he again debunked, pointing out that the issue got based from maliciously compiled tweets.
In 2018, Yap admitted that (1) he had been in a 7-year relationship with a minor, (2) he was put behind bars in 2013 for “condoning a minor” (sheltering an outcast) and “seduction consent” (having a malicious relationship with a minor).
The director also said that there is nothing degrading about Diamante’s satire casting.
“Ai-Ai as Imee, Ken Jeong as BBM and Toni as Irene?
He then labeled the critics of his movie as ‘bitter’ and ‘talunan’ as he believes by their grudges are rooted from the Presidential election result.
Yap also bragged about the million reactions earned by Maid in Malacañang-related posts, even before its official release.
The Quezon City Council recently issued a Persona Non-Grata resolution against Yap and delas Alas for defacing the city council’s official seal in an anti-Joy Belmonte campaign video posted in April.
Instead of learning from his lesson, Yap mocked the resolution by crowdsourcing for a condo available in Quezon City. He then derived the attention to ABS-CBN’s longest-running teleserye FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano by pointing out that it also defaced the seal of Malacañang’s palace.
The Maid in Malacañang’s production already started filming. As of June 27, they are working with the first 12 hours of the story. The trailer of the controversial film will have its release in July.
