On June 25, Darryl Yap highlighted how supportive President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr’s camp was over his upcoming Viva movie, Maid in Malacañang.
At the media conference for Maid in Malacañang, Yap recalled talking to Sandro Marcos, inferring that BBM and his family are supportive of the project.
“If you’re asking me kung anong masasabi ni BBM, the last time that I — the last I person na nakausap ko from the camp was Sandro pa eh–was Congressman Sandro. So I think they’re supportive.
“Sa totoo lang, sobrang busy nila–I don’t want to get the movie in the middle of their business because, after all, this is entertainment. And Sen. Imee spearheads the creative committee– and sabi ko kanya manood sila sana, and then Sandro was asking about the premiere night details and everything. So everybody’s excited.”
He also hinted at Diego Loyzaga’s portrayal of a young BBM.
“So we are very careful with the things that are being discussed in the film because as we know, ’80s and now, 2022, we have different– siyempre bata pa si President BBM doon, but I cannot alter history and story. But ipapakita tayo ng mga, sabi nga ni Diego, konting pagkapilyo, kabataan, katotohanan, I cannot erase that. Lahat naman tayo dumaan sa ganon.”
He also recalled his eagerness to show support to BBM during his campaign.
“During the campaign, I went to the headquarters of BBM in Mandaluyong, at first they were asking help and I told them, what kind of help I can offer? And, they didn’t seem to like it because alam mo naman medyo aggresive– my campaign. Hindi pang mabait. Mabait kasi si BBM, I’m not saying hindi mabait si Senator Imee, pero parang ganon.”
Maid in Malacañang stars Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Cristine Reyes, Diego Loyzaga, Ella Cruz, Karla Estrada, Beverly Salviejo, and Elizabeth Oropesa.
Directed by Darryl Yap and produced by Viva Films, Maid in Malacañang premieres in theaters worldwide on July 20.
