The award-winning actress and former ABS-CBN president is currently part of the six-year-old series as ‘Ramona,’ a revolutionary movement leader.
Charo Santos-Cocio has nothing but praises for the lead star and director of the top-rating ABS-CBN drama series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, which is fast approaching its 7th anniversary in September. The former ABS-CBN president appeared in a testimonial video, released in celebration of the show’s anniversary, where she shared how the show was conceived and developed, and how Martin practically took the wheel to drive the series to where it is currently.
“It was time for ABS-CBN to developed a full action series. In my heart, I wanted to pay tribute also to the gallant soldiers of the Special Action Force (SAF) of the PNP” she shared when asked how the series started, adding that she told Dreamscape Entertainment head, Deo Endrinal to start a “pulis-serye,” and that it was Coco Martin who asked the late Susan Roces the permission to turn Ang Probinsyano a TV series.
Santos expressed admiration for the incredible job that Martin has been able to accomplish for the show.
“Marunong siyang makinig sa pulso ng mga manonood. Kaya iyong kuwento talaga ay tuloy-tuloy (He knows how to listen to what the viewers want, that’s why the story keeps going on)” she said, adding how the so-called Teleserye King’s ability to doing many things at the same thing, amazes her.
“Lahat talaga, from production to creative to directing…talagang ginagampanan niya. So he creates magic on the set,” she added.
She also revealed how Martin was hands-on in making sure that her character, Ramona, will be someone the audience will love and never forget.
“It was a new experience for me. Nakak-high ng adrenaline. First time kong gumawa ng action sequences” she shared, noting that it was Martin’s idea to make her character unique and different from what she did in her past acting projects.
“Sabi niya, ‘ma’m, kailangan ibang Charo Santos ang makita ng ating mga manonood…sabi ko, ‘game!” she happily shared.
She said that Martin explained articulately and demonstrated effectively how she should play the role.”He was very patient in teaching me on how to handle a gun, anong tamang pag-hawak ng pistol, papaano kumasa. Gustong gusto ko na astig ‘yung aking character. Eventually I got used to it, and nakuha ko ‘yung proma na gusto ni Coco”
Santos-Concio plays a revolutionary leader in the Kapamilya action-drama series. In the said tribute video, Santos also underscored FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and how it became a platform to help the viewers understand the heroism of our policemen.
She joked about Martin asking her to appear on the show before it bids farewell on the air. That said, a confirmation is yet to be released, that the series is indeed ending next month, as reports suggest.
