On June 14, Kapamilya artist Brent Manalo recalled how his La Salle graduation photo led to his showbiz career.
During the press conference for his upcoming series Beach Bros, Manalo recounted how he got discovered by Johnny Manahan through his graduation photo.
“Nag-start po talaga ako noong nag-graduate po ako from La Salle, and then ‘yung grad photo ko po nag-viral.
“Nag-graduate po kasi ako ng cum laude tapos ganon.
“Tapos po, nakita po ni Mr. M. So the next day po, parang pina-meet po sa akin si Mr. M. Tapos ‘yun, Star Magic po ako.”
He then shared his preparations for his role in the upcoming series, Beach Bros.
“Ako po, ever since talaga, healthy lifestyle talaga ako, I try to maintain a certain weight, and gym din so noong sinabi sa akin ‘to, game.”
He also compared his character to his personality in real life.
“Sobrang layo, sobrang good boy ko ngayon.
“Siguro, ‘yung maging protector ng barkada, ‘yung ganong instinct din na kapag kunwari sila mga kaibigan ko parang pinagtripan mo, I’m off to rescue ganon. Pero di ko gusto being like playboy or start a fight–malayo, malayo ‘yung character ko.
“‘Yung sa aspect ng babaero at basagulero, malayo, malayo.”
Manalo’s first project with the Kapamilya network is the 2020 series, Ampalaya Chronicles. He also appeared in the Filipino adaptation, The Broken Marriage Vow.
As for his most recent series, Beach Bros stars Kyle Echarri, Chie Filomeno, Lance Carr, Brent Manalo, Raven Rigor, Sean Tristan, Kira Balinger, and Angelica Lao. The Kapamilya series premieres in July on iWantTFC.
