Viva’s head honcho, Vicente del Rosario Jr. (Boss Vic), on June 25, expressed his hopes that Maid in Malacañang would be the first blockbuster film after the pandemic.
At the media conference for Maid in Malacañang, del Rosario disclosed Viva’s plan to have the movie released in theaters worldwide.
“Ang plano talaga ng Viva ay maipakita ito sa–habang maari, sa halos lahat ng pwedeng makapanood. Gusto namin sa July 20, hopefully sa lahat ng sinehan sa buong Pilipinas. Doon sa mga sinehan din na pwedeng ipalabas sa U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore. And then siyempre tatakbo ‘yan sa iba-ibang platform.”
He also cited the importance of showing Maid in Malacañang on the big screen.
“Sa ngayon ang ano muna namin talaga ay Cinema because magandang manood sa big screen pa rin. Itong pelikulang ito ay pang big screen. Pang sinehan ito ginawa. Hindi ito pang maliitan. We hope, we hope, well Viva hopes na it will be the first blockbuster Filipino movies after the pandemic.”
He also talked about the budget they have for the Maid in Malacañang.
“Okay lang ‘yung budget kasi di ba, kinakailangan. Di na ano– tama lang naman sa scope ng work. So with Direk Darryl alam mo naman spoiled.”
Maid in Malacañang stars Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Cristine Reyes, Diego Loyzaga, Ella Cruz, Karla Estrada, Beverly Salviejo, and Elizabeth Oropesa.
Under the direction of Darryl Yap and produced by Viva Films, Maid in Malacañang premieres in theaters worldwide on July 20.
