During the podcast of Nelson Canlas on Friday, July 8, Bea Alonzo revealed that she used to play ‘extra’ roles during her early days in showbiz.
Alonzo added that it was a rough start for her. She also used to ride in service cars for her tapings in the past.
“It was a rough start for me. Nag-umpisa ako extra-extra lang ako, walang lines.
“Nakikisabay lang nga ako sa service sa taping kasi we didn’t have a car, so kahit na isang eksena lang ako kasi extra lang ako ganiyan hihintayin namin matapos buong taping kasi ‘yong taping sa Antipolo or sa Tanay because we didn’t have a car,” she said.
“Tapos hindi namin alam kung saan kami kukuha ng taxi at that time wala namang mga services na…oo, di ba, car services na puwede mong tawagan via app right?
“So, noon wala, so we had to wait. Kung tapos na ako at 4 p.m. pack up na dapat ako maghihintay kami hanggang 5, 6 a.m. para makisabay sa service,” she said.
The actress recounted how she struggled before due to the scarcity of her resources and clothes to wear for her work.
She recalled, “Noong time namin wala kaming cut-off, nu’ng time namin wala kaming stylist, so we had to do everything for ourselves, like pag sinabi na 50 sets of pambahay, ganyan gagamitin as in maghahalughog ka kasi pag normal na tao ka wala ka namang 50 sets na pambahay.
“Parang, I remember, halimbawa sasabihin nila 25 sets of panglakad. Tinitingnan ko ‘yung closet ko, parang tatlong maong na pantalon lang meron ako. Saan ako kukuha ng 25?’”
Alonzo will soon star in the Philippine adaptation of Start-Up along with Alden Richards, Jeric Gonzales, Yasmien Kurdi, and Kim Domingo.
On July 1, 2021, GMA News announced that she transferred to GMA Network after almost 19 years under ABS-CBN.
She is best known for her portrayals in the films One More Chance (2007), The Mistress (2012), Four Sisters and a Wedding (2013), and Eerie (2019).
