Several scenes on the show’s ‘last three weeks’ trailer seemingly alluded to similar events during the 1986 People Power Revolution.
Is FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano drawing an allusion to the 1986 People Power Revolution? That must be the question that netizens have been trying to resolve in their heads, after the finale trailer of the show, was released on July 23. Some scenes on the said trailer grabbed the attention of some observant netizens, who wondered if the sure are reimagining some of the real-life events, which took place during the fall of the Marcos regime.
A particular moment on the trailer seemingly depicted the time when protesters stormed the Malacañang, after the first family vacated the Palace and fled to Hawaii. Interestingly, it can also be taken as taking reference from the recent people revolutionary movement in Sri Lanka, which ousted both their President and Prime Minister from power.
“Ang Probinsyano’s ending. this. scene. right. here,” captioned @jamppool to a photo tweet that shows a scene from the show where a group of protesters are trying to enter the Presidential palace.

Iris expressed how much she adores the show for bringing story arcs that are reflective of reality to the audience.
“We love you ang probinsyano, from jhs to shs to college and hanggang sa nagtatrabaho na ako. in fairness, never kayo nalihis sa paggawa ng episodes na hindi nalalayo sa katotohanang sitwasyon.
“(We love you FPJAP. I never stopped from following you since high school until now that I am already working. In fairness, you never really deviated from what is really happening),” she shared.

Rez Cortesi Prema seemed worried that the show might get banned like Voltes V in the 1970s.
The classic mecha anime was notably banned by the Marcos government for allegedly showing scenes that could incite rebellion or mass revolution.
“Let us pray that the remaining episodes will not be banned from airing, like in the case of Voltes V,” the user tweeted.
