Kapamilya star Jodi Sta. Maria admitted on Monday, June 6, that The Broken Marriage Vow might be the last project she will be doing.
In the media conference for the show’s final three weeks, the actress revealed that playing the role of Dr. Jill Ilustre pushed her to the limit, which made her decide “it’s time to quit.”
“I clearly remember, after we all watch ‘yung [launch] ng trailer, iyong papiging doon sa gilid. So kumukuha sina Z tapos we were all happy [kasi] siyempre parang nakita namin finally ang clips nang ginawa namin.
“But parang I just told Z and Direk Andoy, sabi ko, ‘Ito na ang huling project ko.’ Sabi ko, ‘After TBMV, ayoko na.’ Iyon ang sinabi ko sa kanila noon,” she recalled.
Sta. Maria explained that she felt exhausted from the emotions and all in The Broken Marriage Vow, making her worry that she could not project anything for her future roles.
“Feeling ko parang lahat binigay ko na dito. Hindi talaga naging madali. Feeling ko ito na iyon, wala na akong magagawa after this.
“Feeling ko talaga wala na eh, nasagad talaga. Parang feeling ko lahat ng creative juices ko na-cut off. So ang naisip ko, kung artista ka, at kung ganito ka kaubos, ano pa ang p’wede mong gawin?” she said.
Luckily, the actress had changed her mind after taking a breather.
“All I really needed lang pala was a break—to recharge, to relax, to just kalma.”
In the meantime, Sta. Maria has yet to reveal her next project after The Broken Marriage Vow.
“‘Yan ang aabangan nilang exciting part, hahaha!”
She added, “Well, so far, wala pa talagang concrete na plano kung anong mangyayari sa akin after The Broken Marriage Vow. So wait and see na lang muna.”
The remaining weeks of the show will narrate how David (Zanjoe Marudo) juggles his feelings toward Dr. Jill (Sta. Maria) and Lexi (Sue Ramirez).
