On Tuesday, May 31, singer Moira dela Torre and her husband Jason Hernandez revealed that they decided to end their three-year marriage.
The two got married in January 2019.
In a joint statement posted by Hernandez on his social media accounts, he said, “It is with a heavy heart that after 3 years of marriage, we announce that we are parting ways. Our love and respect for each other remains. We request for privacy during this difficult time.”
Meanwhile, dela Torre shared it on her Instagram stories, but without further comments.
Hernandez admitted that the separation was “the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write.”
The reason for their breakup: infidelity.
It was revealed in the statement that dela Torre’s former husband cheater on her, which he admitted.
“Though my love for her has always been genuine, a few months ago, I confessed to Moira that I have been unfaithful to her during our marriage. I believe that she deserved to know the truth rather than continue down a ‘peaceful’ but dishonest path. I take full responsibility and I’m doing my best to be better,” confessed Hernandez.
He then ended his post by apologizing to the people he hurt, especially dela Torre.
“From the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry for everyone I hurt. Especially Moi,” wrote Hernandez.
Previously, there were speculations about the split after eagle-eyed netizens discovered how the singer removed most of Hernandez’s photos from her Instagram feed. However, during that time, both denied that they had broken up.
The two, before their split, have made hit songs such as Ikaw at Ako, which served to be their wedding theme song, becoming a staple at many nuptials as well.
