Via Facebook on Wednesday, June 1, Karen Davila aired a cryptic post following her trending video interview with Sen. Imee Marcos.
The cryptic post was seen as her reaction to Marcos’s ‘sarcastic’ comment, the sister of President-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr., during her interview in the program Headstart Wednesday, June 1.
Netizens speculated that Davila was offended when Marcos wondered why she still lived in the Philippines even after her brother won the 2022 presidential elections.
“Joining us this morning on Hot Copy, we have with us, this is gonna be a very colorful discussion. We have Senator Imee Marcos. Senator Marcos, good morning to you,” Davila introduced Marcos in the video clip.
“Yes, good morning Karen. It’s nice to see you you’re still here in the Philippines,” Marcos replied with a smile.
“Well, first of all, congratulations,” Davila said.
Marcos told Davila, “Akala ko magma-migrate ka pag nanalo ang Marcos.”
Davila maintained her composure and said, “Hoping always for the best for the country.”
“Thank you very much. We need that UniTeam,” Marcos responded.
“In victory, resist the temptation to gloat. Graciousness is a class act,” Davila wrote.
Many netizens believed that she hinted at Marcos in her social media post.
Davila became a trending topic on Twitter following this.
The veteran broadcaster clarified that she was not offended by their comment about Marcos. She also said that Marcos had apologized to her through text.
She explained, “Let me set the record straight on this one. Sen Imee Marcos on #ANCHeadstart joked about me still being in the PH after her brother’s victory. to which I replied…
“ALWAYS HOPING FOR THE BEST FOR THE COUNTRY” Yan po ang sagot ko.”
“Napikon po ba ako? Hindi po. Sen Imee Marcos also sent me an apology by text after the show. All good. Salamat!”
In another post, she shared the viral video clip with the caption, “SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT.”
“I am posting this because some are maliciously posting this video without my response.
“Thank you all for watching #ANCHeadstart. Salamat 🇵🇭”
