On June 12, TV host and presenter Kaladkaren (Jervi Li) reacted to an LGBTQIA+ person who experienced discrimination at a public establishment because of a ‘Dress Code.’
On her twitter account, Kaladkaren retweeted Drag artist Marina Summer’s post detailing an experience of discrimination at a sushi bar Kampai in Poblacion, Makati.
The TV host recounted her experience in 2018 wherein she got denied entry from a bar in Poblacion because of what she was wearing.
She also urged the public to stop the practice of discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community because of a ‘Dress Code.’
Back in 2018, we were denied entry sa isang bar sa Poblacion. Not because of the “dress code” – hindi kami pinapasok dahil mga bakla daw kami. This has to stop! Nakakaloka kayo. Nakakapanget maging homophobic https://t.co/BW64N5mLQA

In recent years, bars in Poblacion have been notoriously known for discriminating against the members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Kaladkaren’s encounter was with H&J Sports Bar and Restaurant, while in 2019, the NoKal Bar in the same area also reportedly barred the entry of a transwoman. Sadly, the most recent incident of using the ‘Dress Code’ to discriminate against the LGBTQIA+ community happened in the middle of Pride Month.
Kaladkaren is an outspoken member and advocate of the LGBTQIA+ community. She gained popularity through the viral video of her imitation of Kapamilya newscaster Karen Davila. She then became a segment host for the Kapamilya morning show, Umagang Kay Ganda.
Recently, Kaladkaren announced her engagement with her long-time partner Luke Wrightson.
