On Wednesday, June 8, filmmaker Joel Lamangan and actor Albie Casiño revealed that work becomes easier when they are together.
Casiño has worked with the director a few times, including the Vivamax sexy drama movie Moonlight Butterfly. The actor is part of Lamangan’s latest offering, Biyak.
In the virtual media conference of the movie, the seasoned filmmaker loved the idea of having to work with someone like the actor, who is very professional.
“Isa lang, dahil siya’y isang propesyunal na aktor, at nagagawa niya ang anumang hingiin sa kanya, at mahusay niyang nagagawa. Kaya naging paborito ko siya. Sa marami na naming pinagsamahan, wala akong problema kapag si Albie Casiño ang artista,” he said.
The artist responded with kind words. He pointed out that Lamangan is not a difficult co-worker if his talent comes to the set prepared.
“Working with Direk Joel kasi is so easy nga talaga because he asks everyone to be prepared when they come to set. So alam mo na kaagad na ‘yung ka-eksena mo alam na niya ang gagawin niya—ikaw—your homework should be done before you get to the set.”
Moreover, Casiño, with the guidance of the director, felt the freedom he needed to let out his artistry.
“Ang dali katrabaho [ni Direk] because may guideline ka na kung saan papunta ang eksena, ano ‘yung gagawin mo pero at the same time may freedom ka rin gumalaw within the scene.”
Meanwhile, in the latest movie, the audience will see him in his first outdoor intimate scene.
It was a challenge but manageable, says the artist.
“Hindi na po ako bago sa mga love scenes pero masasabi ko po na first time ko pong mag-shoot ng love scene sa labas.
“So medyo mahirap maglakad na naka-plaster at nasa labas ka, hahaha!
“Hindi naman po. Maganda naman ang katawan ko. Pakita na natin, hahaha.”
Vince Larena joins Casiño, first-time lead stars Quinn Carillo and Angelica Cervantes.
Biyak is about two long-lost sisters, Violet (Cervantes) and Samantha (Carillo), whose life becomes intertwined with drugs and sexual abuse. A former drug courier, the latter becomes a police asset, while the former grew up with a sexually abusive adopted father.
When they meet, both sisters rely on each other to escape the chaos and abuse, hoping for a peaceful life once and for all.
Catch it on Vivamax beginning on July 1.
