During the media launch of Liza Soberano as part of Careless Music on Monday, June 20, the record label’s executive, actor-singer James Reid, felt that she could represent the Philippines internationally.
Previously, both Soberano and Reid were in Los Angeles, California to “look for opportunities.” They even attended the first annual Golden Gala.
According to the latter, the actress envisioned herself being a Hollywood artist, there’s a huge possibility that she can achieve it.
“That’s one of our goals… she told me when she signed, ‘I want you to help me go international.’
“After that trip, I really believe that if there is going to be a Filipino artist that will really break internationally, and represent the Philippines, it will be Liza, more than me I think. I think she really has the potential to go international,” said Reid.
Not only that, he believes that she perfectly fits Careless Music as one of its artists.
“I’m very proud of the team, you know, the Careless family, the artists, and everything. I’m very grateful for Liza coming on board, and really trusting Careless. I think she’s an amazing fit for everything that we’re doing.”
Reid added, “Really the one thing that I look for is that they have the vision for who they wanna be as an artist, or where they wanna go in their career. I can’t work with someone that wants me to do it for them, that’s not how we work.”
Meanwhile, the actor-singer was part of ABS-CBN’s roster of talents along with Soberano. He already saw potential in the female star during their Kapamilya days.
“Oh yes! I mean, we’ve been in the same industry for so long, and you know, of course, there were not too many artists like us. Nadine, Liza, there were not too many… in our batch. So, yeah, we definitely appreciated everything that we were doing. We were in the same lane but I never would have expected that things would go the way that they had now until I decided to manage myself.”
He is also open to working with her on a project but in the meantime, they will be focusing on the actress’ goal: to reach international stardom.
“I think anything is…nothing’s off the table right now. But we want to, of course, push what Liza wants the most.”
