Inspired by ‘Elite?’ GB Sampedro clarifies that he didn’t feel awkward taping LGBTQIA+ sex scenes in ‘High On Sex’

On May 16, Director GB Sampedro clarified that he didn’t feel awkward taping LGBTQIA+ sex scenes in High On Sex.

At the media conference for High On Sex, Sampedro cited the importance of portraying the sexual experiences of young LGBTQIA+ people in their series.

He then explained an integral part of the LGBTQIA+ scenes in telling the story of Migs Almendras’ character in the series.

He also refuted that High On Sex had influence or inspiration from the Netflix series, Elite.

“Honestly, hindi ko napanood ‘yung elite so wala siyang influence.”

As for his return to directing a series, he differentiated working in a series in mainstream media and digital platforms.

“The last series na ginawa ko ay sa TV pa and this is my first na sa online platform, so medyo malaki talaga ‘yung difference.

Sampedro’s last TV series was U-Tol under Viva TV. After that, he worked on Vivamax projects such as Kaka, Crush kong Curly, Kinsenas, Katapusan, and Doblado.

As for their series, ‘High On Sex’ stars Wilbert Ross, Migs Almendras, Katrina Dovey, Angela Morena, and Denise Esteban.

Joining them are Viva artists such as Marco Gomez, Micaella Raz, Andrea Garcia, Juami Gutierrez, Katya Santos, Sheree Bautista, and Mark Carpio.

‘High On Sex’ streams via Vivamax on June 5 and drops new episodes weekly.
