Returning after more than a year of absence from the show, Hilario made everyone cry at the studio, including Vice Ganda.
The original It’s Showtime family is finally complete!
This is after Jhong Hilario, who’s been with the noontime show since its debut in 2009, finally made his much-anticipated comeback. Anne Curtis, who took a similar but longer break, notably returned to the show last week.

Unlike Curtis’s comeback, however, Hilario’s return was unannounced, hence the evident surprise of the show’s hosts. Jhong disguised as one of the three new contenders for the singing competition, Tawag Ng Tanghalan, which was literally staged, to allow Hilario pull off his clever disguise.
The ‘fake’ contestants sang a version of the Rey Valera classic ‘Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko’. When it was the third contestant’s turn to sing, Anne Curtis, Kim Chiu, Vhong Navarro, among other hosts, promptly recognized the voice and screamed upon realizing it was indeed Jhong.
The newly-reelected City councilor then walked towards Vice Ganda, who got frozen for a moment, when he finally recognized Jhong. They hugged each other and shed tears while sharing a warm embrace.
“I have long been waiting for this moment to happen…to have you my original It’s Showtime family and my new It’s Showtime family” shared Vice Ganda, who looked very emotional.
Explaining himself why it took him that long before coming back to the show, Jhong shared that he simply needed to get sworn into the office first, before committing himself to any showbiz engagement. He won his re-election bid as a Makati City councilor, on May 9
It is not clear, however, whether or not Hilario will appear on the show as frequently as before. He teased the audience he might do it the ‘Anne Curtis’ way. Curtis temporarily appears only on the Saturday edition of the show.
