Several celebrities, social media personalities, and netizens shared their reactions to the case verdict of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation case.
On Thursday, June 2 (PH time), the jury of the State of Virginia, USA, decided that both Depp and Heard had defamed each other but put more weight on Depp’s case.
After three days of deliberation, the court’s jury unanimously found Heard liable for defamation against Depp. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
However, under the State of Virginia law, punitive damages are capped at $350 thousand. Thus Depp will receive a total of $10.35 million in damages.
Heard, on the other hand, will also receive $2 million in compensatory damages after the jury ruled in favor of one of her counterclaims against Depp.
Johnny Depp’s victory was met with positive reactions from Pinoy celebrities and netizens.
Kapuso star Gil Cuerva in his tweet, said that Depp’s victory is not only for him but for all victims of abuse, either men or women.
“I’m sure the money isn’t important for Johnny Depp, it’s about getting his story heard (no pun intended lol) and people believing him. Big win not just for him, but for victims of abuse out there both men & women.”
