2022 has given the world hope after struggling for two years since the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it might not be the same for everyone, especially celebrity couples.
This year alone, celebrity couples have gone their separate ways.
Although it seemed not big of a deal just like the case between Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard, these breakups still left people wondering: is there a forever?
JK Labajo and Maureen Wroblewitz. Earlier on June 10, singer Labajo and Miss Universe Philippines 2021 first runner-up Wroblewitz ended their relationship since going out in public in 2019. In an Instagram post of the former, he revealed that they have reverted to being “friends.”
“Magka-ibigan na ngayo’y matalik na magkaibigan. Lagi mong tandaan na kahit pagbaliktarin mo man ang mundo, kahit saang lupalop man ng kalawakan, ikaw pa rin ang nagiisa kong buwan. Maraming salamat, mahal kita, at hanggang sa muli,” wrote Labajo on his IG post.
Moira dela Torre and Jason Hernandez. The separation of music power couple dela Torre and now-estranged husband Hernandez shocked their fans after it turned out that the latter cheated on his partner. They were married for three years.
In a statement, he confessed to his infidelity.
“3 years ago, I married my best friend with the intent of spending the rest of my life with her. Though my love for her has always been genuine, a few months ago, I confessed to Moira that I have been unfaithful to her during our marriage. I believe that she deserved to know the truth rather than continue down a “peaceful” but dishonest path. I take full responsibility and I’m doing my best to be better. From the bottom of my heart, I’m sorry for everyone I hurt. Especially Moi.”
Paul Desiderio and Agatha Uvero. The engaged couple, PBA cager Desiderio and UAAP courtside reporter Uvero, have decided to go their separate ways just a week after the next couple on the list.
The two already had a child but it was time for them to “love their selves.”
Uvero, in a tweet, wrote, “It’s not breakup season, for some it’s loving yourself season.”
Alyssa Valdez and Kiefer Ravena. The breakup between athletes Alyssa Valdez and Kiefer Ravena shook the Twitter universe. They dated for 6 years but on May 26, VMG Asia, Valdez’s representative put out a statement that the couple known to their fans as KiefLy are no longer together.
The Phenom’s camp also urged the public to not spread any false rumors regarding the couple’s separation.
“We appreciate the concern, but this decision does not involve any other party. Let us avoid making up stories and spreading false rumors. We hope that everyone can respect Alyssa’s decision to keep things private,” the statement read. “Thank you to all the fans who have loved and supported Alyssa through the years. We know you will continue to be there for her.”
Kylie Versoza and Jake Cuenca. Another power couple, Kylie Versoza and Jake Cuenca ended their relationship of three years.
It was revealed in an April 23 post of the actor that says, “I’ll hold on to all our precious memories together with so much value. These past 3 years of my life have certainly been the best. I say this with such a heavy heart but me and Kylie have decided to go our separate ways.”
Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez. Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez shocked their fans after news broke out that they separated after three months into the marriage. Annulment rumors were spread but the reason for their separation remained a mystery.
Rodriguez claimed that he was being silenced to speak the truth about the split.
Barbie Imperial and Diego Loyzaga. Just a year of being in a relationship, Kapamilya actress Barbie Imperial confirmed on February 4 that she and actor Diego Loyzaga are no longer together.
Currently, Loyzaga is dating Franki Russell.
Imperial said that they were on good terms following the breakup.
Maria Ozawa and Jose Sarasola. Celebrity chef Jose Sarasola and Japanese superstar Maria Ozawa broke up a month before 2022. On January 13, Sarasola revealed in an interview with PEP that the reason was the distance between them.
“We had a talk. We mutually agreed to part ways. Pero wala naman kaming pinag-awayan, big fight, third party. Wala naman talagang away. Ang hirap lang talaga ng LDR. We didn’t expect na ganito kahirap,” he said.
They were nearing their fifth year when the unexpected happened.
These breakups could mean, maybe, that there is no forever?
