Embark on a journey through the lens of Xiaomi 12 Series to Master Every Scene with four visual storytellers from Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Xiaomi amps up its campaign to discover the people and culture of the world through the powerful lenses of Xiaomi 12 series phones. Collaborating with National Geographic Creative Works for its ‘ProActive Action’ campaign, Xiaomi taps four storytellers in South East Asia, to share their immersive stories and passions using the latest Xiaomi 12 series. The stories are told through the eyes of a celebrated photographer from each country reflecting their local perspective – Gab Mejia from the Philippines, Annice Lyn from Malaysia, Sirachai “Shin” Arunrugstichai from Thailand, and Linh Pham from Vietnam.
“We are excited to be collaborating with National Geographic Creative Works on this campaign as we celebrate the people, lives and cultures in Southeast Asia. Dubbed as the premium flagship of Xiaomi, Xiaomi 12 Pro can beautifully capture the visual stories of each explorer that will be a part of this campaign with its pro-grade triple 50MP camera array, complemented with Xiaomi’s advanced AI algorithm. We look forward to seeing how the featured National Geographic Photographers will master every scene,” shared KM Leong, General Manager for Southeast Asia of Xiaomi International.
The campaign empowers each national storyteller to choose their themes, intending to put to test the power of Xiaomi 12 Pro’s triple 50MP pro-grade camera lenses. The ProFocus and Ultra Night Video features of the phone are highlighted to allow each storyteller to capture their subjects in their purest and rawest forms. The campaign encompasses a wide array of social, cultural, and environmental themes that are close to each explorer’s hearts.
Gab Mejia of the Philippines chose to showcase the culture and people of the Cordilleras in the Northern Philippines. His works highlight the importance of preserving the cultural and environmental heritage of the region.
Annice Walyn of Malaysia, meanwhile, allows the work of the Wayang Kulit master’s works to shine, through her well-crafted visual documentation of the local shadow-puppet play. Her majestic shots showcase behind-the-scene moments of the tradition, and the craftmanship of making the various puppets and performances. Walyn intends to allow her work become instrumental in the preservation of this wonderful heritage, so that it continues in the future.
Sirachai “Shin” Arunrugstichai of Thailand, delves into the beauty and importance of the last remaining mangrove forest of Prasae Estuary. His documentation captures the successful restoration efforts in the region, as well as its continuing path to full recovery. The young Thai’s photos portray the rich biodiversity of the place, as well as the rich relationship of the local folks with their natural resources.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Linh Pham, focuses his lens on the hidden corners of the city, that seldom appear on most travel guides. Through Xiaomi 12 Pro’s poiwerful lenses, he succeeds capturing the beauty that lurks beyond the mundane. In his photos, he makes the rarely pondered-on beauty of an unnamed coffee shop under the bridge, a museum with million-year-old specimens, a charming neighborhood blended with Vietnamese and Chinese heritage, and a peaceful fishing island, sparkle and shine.
