Toni Gonzaga was supposed to play the lead actress for the US film Asian Persuasion, but she got replaced by KC Concepcion.
What could be the reason behind it?
Film director Jhett Tolentino explained that there was a conflict with the schedule of Toni Gonzaga, which is why they got forced to look for another lead actress.
He said that the conflict occurred two weeks before the film shooting, but they survived the ordeal.
“Okay, I just want to make this straight. Toni Gonzaga was my first choice. Right. And then two weeks before our pre-production, so mid-February. I got an email from her management saying that she has a conflict in the schedule.
“Yung sa akin lang, once you commit tapusin, and then so yun, I started the petition. I paid for her work visa. Nagbayad na kami, and then yun, they gave a notice na hindi siya… conflict of schedule. And ako naman, yeah, I have to admit I panicked a little… Kasi siyempre two weeks before ng pre-prod wala ‘di ba, So kaya ko tinawagan si Sharon, sabi ko, ‘Nasaan ang anak mo?’” Tolentino shared.
Asian Persuasion is a romantic-comedy film set in New York City. Aside from KC Concepcion, it will also star international Filipino actors based in the US like Dante Basco, Paolo Montalban, Scarlett Sher, and Kevin Kreider.
Meanwhile, KC Concepcion previously expressed her gratitude for being a part of the said project.
