Rica Sicat’s (Charlie Dizon) pursuit of justice fittingly ends with her rapist, Councilor Jigs Ramones (Markus Paterson) being found guilty and receiving his appropriate punishment. For six months, local viewers and netizens got absorbed in the immersive story of Rica, a junior architect whose simple life suddenly got shattered when a scandalous video of her went viral. But more than the compelling and well-woven story itself, the various powerful social commentaries the show imparted, should leave a more lasting imprint on the viewers.
The exemplary performance of the show’s talented cast is arguably the show’s biggest asset. Vice Ganda once noted that only capable actors with excellent dramatic chops are allowed to be part of the show, and he was right. Viewers witnessed how each of the show’s characters, big and small alike, received their spotlight and make the best of it. It is through the show that viewers got introduced to Kaila Estrada and Karina Bautista, who both made memorable moments in the series. Viral Scandal shredded its delicate anthems in fine detail, all to help the public get a better grasp of the issues and concerns that affect their lives in the long run. That makes it one of the most remarkable local productions to ever graced the local television in a very long time, which also makes it worthy of all the high praises it received throughout its run.
