On April 27, Viva Communications Inc. CEO Vincent del Rosario clarified misconceptions about Vivamax having more adult content.
During the Vivamax’s Summer to The Max campaign event, Del Rosario explained that Vivamax’s library has 70% drama content.
“I think baka misconception ‘yung imahe na mas maraming for adults. Kung titignan mo ‘yung laman ng Vivamax, kasi nandiyan ‘yung library ng Viva, baka 70% nun drama eh. More than ano–makikita natin ‘yung bagong content, medyo adult eskew.
“But even those sa originals, ginagawang mga bago ngayon, kung titignan niyo marami dito mostly mainstream.”
However, he acknowledged that they have adult content to keep an edge over mainstream media.
“Nandiyan si Janno [Gibbs] na very wholesome. Alam ninyo naman na very family oriented ‘yan. So but yes, nandoon pa rin ‘yung edgy, ‘yung adult eskewing only because I think it’s a differentiator from ‘yung free to air na palabas.”
He added that the adult content in the platform creates excitement over Vivamax.
“Kung pareho lang ‘yung i-offer namin sa araw-araw na napapanood sa TV, siguro ‘yung propensity or ‘yung excitement over the platform mag-iiba rin. May conscious effort na ibahin ng kaunti ‘yung timpla ng content para sa platform. If it becomes a little more daring, or more adult, it’s only because we want to be different from the free to air na content.”
He then reiterated that they have more non-adult content than adult ones.
“But if you look at mix, if you look at the library sa Vivamax makikita mo di hamak na mas lamang ‘yung non-adult na title.”
During the first quarter of 2022, Vivamax became the number one Pinoy Streaming Platform, with its subscribers hitting around 2.5 million.
