For his share, the comedian-host contributed Php65,000 to the total haul collected from It’s Showtime hosts, judges, and even guests.
Vice Ganda led the It’s Showtime family in raising a total of Php200,000 for Tawag ng Tanghalan contender Edimar Bonghanon, during the May 24 episode of the noontime show.
During the interview portion of the contest, Vice Ganda and Vhong Navarro had a fun conversation with the Cebu native.
During the said conversation, Bonghanon shared the challenges his family went through when Typhoon Odette ravaged Central Visayas, including the province of Cebu.
In his native language, Bonghanon shared that his family lost their house to the typhoon, and that they are currently living in a makeshift shelter.
“Heto na mapapagastos na (Looks like somebody’s gonna shell out money again),” teased Kim Chiu when Vice Ganda hinted he was about to start something.
“Sa buhay hindi madali, pero napapadali kahit papaano ang buhay dahil sa mga kaagapay (Life is hard, but it gets easier through good-hearted people who willingly extends their help),” Vice Ganda shared.
He then asked each co-host and the judge to donate a small portion of their earnings to Edimar.
The comedian-host collected Php5,000 each from Ion Perez, Teddy Corpuz, Jugs Jugueta, and Nyoy Volante. Amy Perez, Vhong Navarro, Karylle, Ryan Bang, and Zsa Zsa Padilla each pledged Php10,000, while Kim Chiu and Ogie Alcasid generously donated Php30,000. Vice Ganda was also able to collect Php5,000 from Janine Berdin, who empathized with her fellow Cebuanos as she personally witnessed the impacts of Typhoon Odette to many families in the province.
Noting that the haul was just Php65,000 short of hitting PhP200,000, Vice Ganda promised to shoulder the said missing amount.
“Minsan kasi ang problem sinasarili mp. Pero ang mga Kapamilya mo, hindi papayag na sarilihin mo ang problema mo. Kahit hindi mo hinihiling, sasamahan ka namin sa pinagdadanan mo (Sonetimes, we tend to choose dealing with our problems alone. But those who love you will never allow that to happen. Even if you don’t ask, they willingly provide to hep you in your needs),” he shared.
Edimar did not win as the daily contender that day, but he went home with his heart full of gratitude and warmth after receiving such great blessing from Vice Ganda and It’s Showtime family.
