On May 5, artist Tony Labrusca recalled dealing with the case filed against him.
During the media conference of Breathe Again, Labrusca said he felt like the whole world was blaming him when he was dealing with a lawsuit from 2021.
“Mag-sorry ako, pero when you deal with a case, and you’re innocent, it’s like– and the whole world is like blaming you, that you did something that you didn’t do, it’s really crazy. And you have to wait and [to] wait and see because it’s not in your control whether you’re going to be innocent or what.”
He then reiterated that he didn’t do anything wrong, noting that he felt grateful that he could breathe again.
“I mean, you know it’s nice, kasi wala naman akong ginawang masama, mabuti naman akong tao, pero naging problema ko siya. I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t choose it, but it happened to me, so it sucks. So I guess now, yeah, I’m grateful that I can breathe again. I wish that didn’t have to happen in the first place. But it is what it is–life happens.”
As for the pandemic, Labrusca expressed his relief seeing how the country was slowly getting back on track.
“No it’s nice and nakakatuwa na kasama na namin kayong lahat, kasi during the pandemic, napunta lang ako doon sa states, and doon parang hindi mo maramdaman ‘yung pandemya eh. And pagdating namin dito ‘yung parang small things na like this, na bumabalik na ulit, it’s just so nice nakaka-move on na ulit tayo and nakakahinga na ulit tayo. Literal.”
In June 2021, Labrusca faced two criminal complaints: one for molesting a woman and one for assaulting another woman at a party in January 2021. However, in March of 2022, the court dismissed the case against the actor.
Labrusca comeback film Breathe Again also stars Ariella Arida and Ivan Padilla. Directed by Raffy Francisco, the movie streams on Vivamax on June 3, 2022.
