The Dante Pangilinan feature is one of the rare films where Daniel Padilla’s father, Rommel, starred in a leading role.
The Padilllas have long carved their mark and legacy in Philippine showbiz, with many of their members successfully making it to the spotlight. As far as the ‘90s is concerned, Robin Padilla undoubtedly tops all Padillas in showbiz. His superstar status could be very well compared to Daniel Padilla, who is currently one of the most successful male stars of his generation.
Robin’s fame is largely reflected by his success in movies. His decade-spanning movie career spawned several box office movies, including popular movie franchises like Anak Ni Baby Ama and Bad Boy. He made a stellar career on television, too.
Another successful Padilla in the ‘90s, is Rustom Padilla, who is now the transwoman, BB Gandanghari. Rustom made several starring roles and was a matinee idol at the height of his movie career. In 2006, the actor made a surprising announcement on the reality TV show, Pinoy Big Brother: that he is a gay man.
Unlike his two brothers, Rommel Padilla did not experience a superstar level of fame. He did, however, had his starring roles in movies, one of which is Ang Kilabot at si Miss Pakipot. The film was a collaborative project between GMA Films and OctorArts Films. It was shown in Philippine theaters and cinemas in 1998.
In the film, Rommel starred alongside sexy star, Rita Magdalena, while E.R. Ejercito aka Jorge Estregan, served as the main villain. Other cast members include Katrina Paula, Jummy Concepcion, Rhey Roldan, Jun Hidalgo, Susan Reyes, Gil Carino, Ariel Reyes and Martin Robert.
