The top-rated Kapamilya series marked the first time Locsin and Cruz worked together in a TV series.
Imortal is the sequel of the award-winning Kapamilya series, Lobo, which served as Angel Locsin’s first TV-starrer as a Kapamilya. It is the second series under the very successful Moonstone Trilogy, which also included Lobo (2008) and La Luna Sangre (2017). It also marked the first time both Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz worked with the prolific TV and movie director Chito Roño.
The series follows the story of Lia (Locsin), the daughter of Noah (Piolo Pascual), a human, and Lyka (also Locsin), a werewolf, as she navigates her role of being her tribe’s ultimate savior. It also follows the long-standing war between the werewolves and vampires, as well as the intrusion of the human race that makes their already embattled worlds darker and more chaotic.
The greatest crux in Lia’s fulfillment of her duty as the most powerful werewolf is the vampire Matteo (John Lloyd Cruz), whom she fell in love with.
Their complicated romance and the fact that the races they belong to are at war and tasked to lead their respective groups made it impossible for them to fulfill their vows to each other.
Imortal was a consistent TV rating leader from its first episode on 4 October 2010 to 29 April 2011. According to AGB Nielsen National Urban TV Measurement (NUTAM) data, the series won its slot with an 11.5% people rating.
Also part of the show’s ensemble cast were Maricar Reyes, Rico Blanco, Jaime Fabregas, Vivian Velez, Jake Roxas, Francine Prieto, Niña Dolino, Nikki Valdez, Johnny Revilla, Jomari Yllan, Beverly Salviejo, Vangie Labalan, Ericka Padilla, Leandro Baldemor, Dino Imperial, Marlann Flores, Bryan Santos, Carlos Agassi, Nikki Bacolod, and Rocky Salumbides. Some of the cast members, including Bryan Santos and Dino Imperial reprised their roles for the last installment via La Luna Sangre. Angel Locsin and Maricar Reyes, also returned as guest stars.
