ABS-CBN’s domination online is well-reflected by the two shows that reign supreme on two of the biggest streaming platforms in the world.
The Kapamilya network keeps its digital momentum, leading both the local charts of streaming mammoths, Viu and Netflix, with its two original shows.
The Broken Marriage Vow remains among the most-watched Asian dramas on Viu Philippines, while 2 Good 2 Be True reigns supreme on Netflix since its debut on May 13. The Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla-led romcom immediately climbed up the local trending shows chart on Netflix, reaching the top spot as early as its third episode. The series gets an early release on the streaming platform–72 hours before each episode’s airing on A2Z and TV5.
The Broken Marriage Vow’s victory in the TV rating game is duplicated unsurprisingly by its commanding presence online. Both on YouTube where views reach hundreds of thousands, and on Viu, where it remains the top local content and among the top trending Asian dramas on the platform.
The show had to adjust to a later timeslot last week. Judging how it claimed its first victory against its Kapuso rival in the rating game–the said move is a good decision. Not that it was unsuccessful with its old-time slot, of course, as it notably revitalized the second primetime drama slot with higher ratings (compared to previous programs).
2 Good 2 Be True’s dominance on Netflix Philippines is also not surprising, given KathNiel’s non-questionable drawing power.
Amid the rise of new and up-and-coming onscreen team-ups–KathNiel’s pairing remains commendable. It affirmed the continuing popularity of the tandem.
Historically, its debut as the first local TV series to stream in advance on the platform, ahead of its free TV release.
