Two years after the ABS-CBN’s shutdown, the Tagalog news channel is making a comeback on free television.
Kapamilya viewers will soon be reunited with the 24/7 Tagalog news channel, TeleRadyo (formerly DZMM TeleRadyo) on free television, two years after the channel went off the air in the wake of ABS-CBN’s shutdown in May 2020.
The TV broadcast of the now-defunct radio station, DZMM, has since become available on cable TV.
Early this month, digital TV viewers got surprised to see the test broadcast of the channel, as one of Zoe TV’s new sub-channels. As early as May 1, the new sub-channel under UHF 20 started simulcasting A2Z. Light TV Network also broadcasts under this frequency as a sub-channel.
There is still no official announcement on its relaunch, but TV Plus, ABS-CBN’s own digital terrestrial TV provider have teased for its return for a month now.
That prompted Kapamilya viewers to speculate about the highly-anticipated return of several original TV Plus channels, which have either gone defunct or become cable TV-only channels.
Teleradyo, alongside Cinemo!, Yey, Asianovela Channel, and ABS-CBN Sports and Action are among the free digital TV channels exclusively aired through UHF 43 on ABS-CBN TV Plus. On the other hand, Knowledge Channel, O-Shopping, Movie Central, MYX, and Jeepney TV air using UHF 16.
TeleRadyo carries largely Tagalog news and current affairs programs, including Headline Pilipinas, Pasada sa Teleradyo (formerly Pasada 630), SRO: Suhestyon, Reaksyon at Opinyon, Omaga-Diaz Reports, Dr. Love, G Diaries, Bida Konsyumer, Kabayan, Lingkod Kapamilya sa Teleradyo, and HaPinay. ABS-CBN’s flagship newscasts, TV Patrol and TV Patrol Weekend, and Noli de Castro’s new public service program, KBYN are also simulcasted over the channel.
