Comedienne Pokwang on Friday, April 29, shared her reaction to being compared with fellow Kapuso artist Ai-Ai delas Alas.
Due to supporting different presidential candidates, they were pitted against each other. Pokwang supports Vice President Leni Robredo while delas Alas is endorsing former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
In an interview, she explained that being vocal as a celebrity has its disadvantages.
“Kahit naman walang eleksyon lagi naman kapag naglalabas ako ng opinyon ko, lagi akong naaano,” said the comedienne.
What matters most for Pokwang was to express her opinion on social issues.
She said she is immune to bashing and comparison.
“Sanay na ako diyan.”
“Pero sabi ko nga, pagkatapos nitong eleksyon na ‘to, back to normal tayo. Kanya-kanya na naman tayo.”
Pokwang argued that there was no point in making an enemy due to politics. She pointed out that her belief that Robredo could be a better leader is to have a brighter future for the Philippines.
Recently, she was involved in an issue with actor DJ Durano and Kapuso director Rado Peru because of their chosen candidates.
In the meantime, Pokwang is the newest endorser of Klio, a leading local manufacturer in the plastic food storage industry.
