Local organizers and authorities placed the crowd estimate for Robredo’s Bicol Miting de Avance at more than 300,000, which is now the biggest crowd her slate ever has mustered outside Metro Manila since the beginning of the campaign period.
Three days before the highly-anticipated and dreaded 2022 national polls, Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan, are on the last leg of their respective presidential and vice-presidential campaigns. In Naga City, where the presidentiable’s first miting de avance was held, local organizers reported that crowd already swelled with 168,000 Bicolanos by 5:30 pm. By 7:30 pm, that number skyrocketed to 210,000, and then to 306,000 by 8:30 PM.
Local organizers and Naga City’s incident management team released the said crowd estimate. The final estimate is yet to be determined.
The Tropang Angat senatorial slate, except Senator Richard ‘Dick’ Gordon and Senator Leila Delima missed the event. The Miting de Avance in Naga is the culmination of VP Robredo’s day-long campaign across the Bicol Region.
Earlier today, May 6, Vice President Robredo and Senator Pangilinan’s team held people’s rallies in Sorsogon City and Legazpi City. In Chiz Ezcudero’s bailiwick of Sorsogon, an estimated 60,000 Sorsoganons showed up for the presidential and vice-presidential pair, while around 100,000 Kakampinks in Albay attended the Leni-Kiko rally in the capital city of Legazpi.
Among the biggest surprise, that night is Piolo Pascual’s surprise appearance on the stage, to convince the crowd to remain committed to ensuring VP Robredo’s win. He serenaded the crowd with his cover of the Yeng Constantino song, ‘Hawak Kamay‘, which the crowd ecstatically sang along.
Leni-Kiko’s crowd in Bicol is already the team’s biggest crowd outside the National Capital Region (NCR). It also marked the end of Tropang Angat’s campaign in the province, as the last day of the campaign period will be spent by the group in Metro Manila.
The Miting de Avance in Makati is expected to draw at least a million supporters.
During her speech, Vice President Robredo recalled her journey in politics, from being a newbie politician in 2013 to her surprising win as vice-president in the 2016 national polls.
