On Wednesday, May 18, a media launch of tradigital company Kroma Entertainment, Inc., with 917Ventures Retirement Fund, collaborated with ABS-CBN to create the first real-time interactive channel, Pinoy Interactive Entertainment (PIE)–mainly because of the network’s content-making capability.
“Well, ABS has long been a trusted partner of the Globe Group and is a highly credible and forward-thinking content organization,” said KROMA Entertainment CEO Ian Monsod during its online launch.
The Kapamilya Network, together with KROMA, previously joined together to make the award-winning movie Kun Maupay Man it Panahon.
Upon its release in 2021, the film that starred Daniel Padilla, Charro Santos-Concio, and Rans Rifol bagged seven (7) awards during the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in the same year. It gave Santos-Concio her Best Actress award, Best Supporting Actress for Rifol, and Padilla with a Special Jury Prize. The movie also won second Best Picture, Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Award, Best Production Design, and Best Visual Effects.
Furthermore, Monsod pointed out that both companies share the same goal of developing the country’s entertainment industry.
“More importantly, we share the same tradigital view, to propel growth for Filipino artistry, and the entertainment industry, in general.”
He added, “So it was a natural partnership expansion to do the PIE project together.”
PIE will officially launch on May 23. Celebrities and content creators join together in the channel as “jocks.”
From 5 a.m. to 2 a.m., PIE will become accessible to 11 million digital TV households in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Zamboanga, Naga, Baguio, and nearby provinces through partner station BEAM.
