Several journalists and social media personalities slammed Net25 News Department for its continuous biased reporting against Vice President Leni Robredo and her family.
In its latest news report about the Robredo’s aired on its primetime newscast Mata ng Agila on May 24, Net25 reporter Vin Pascua called the Robredo sisters “kulang sa pansin” thus the frequent social media posts about their family’s activities.
The report also compared the Robredo sisters to the sons of Marcos Jr., who, according to the report, are well-raised for their “simple” and “humble” life.
The clip of the report quickly made rounds on social media, with many journalists and personalities blasting Net25’s quest to beat SMNI as the country’s leading fake news media organization.
@MediaNewserPhil slammed Net25 for slandering the Vice President’s daughters.
“Garbage in, garbage out. Journalism should be about truth-telling, not making up facts. Shame on @NET25TV for slandering the vice-presidential daughters. #garbagereporting”

Talent manager-host and certified Kakampink asked why they continue to bash the Robredos when their supported candidate Marcos Jr has already won.
“Nakakalungkot no? Pati sila, di maka-get over ke Leni. Ano pa kaya ang gusto nilang mangyari?”

In a follow-up tweet, Ogie asked if the newscast’s anchor, Alex Santos feels reading such news is obviously unethical.
“Gusto kaya ni broadcaster Alex Santos itong ginagawa niya o wala lang siyang choice?”

Journalists Raissa Robles shared Ogie’s sentiments as she also asked why is the INC-owned Net25 still attacking the Robredos when their candidate Marcos Jr. had already won.
“Why is the official INC station still attacking @lenirobredo when she already “lost”. Hmmm.”

Meanwhile, former Kapamilya reporter Kevin Manalo puts the weight on the whole news team, not just the reporter and the anchor. He also added that this is the best time for legitimate media to push back.
“It’s not just Alex Santos nor the reporter. It’s their entire news team that is in question now. If this is a preview of this admin’s term, then we should expect it to get worse. Now more than ever, we need legitimate media to push back.”

Another journalist Barnaby Lo also reacted, saying Net25 is clearly the face of biased media.
“Gusto niyo makita kung ano ang totoong hitsura ng biased na media? Eto. Lantaran.”

Meanwhile, Kapamilya broadcast journalist Christian Esguerra made a sarcastic response saying Net25’s reporting the version of objective journalism in their universe.

Another Kapamilya journalist Jeff Canoy also shared his sentiment, saying he decided not to share the video to prevent amplifying the lies, and he added that, obviously, it is not a brand of journalism.
“Sorry, decided not to share the video because what we don’t want is to amplify lies. But yeah. Exhibit A of NOT journalism.”

Net25 has been recently criticized for biased reporting.
In its May 12 newscast, another Mata ng Agila anchor Emma Tiglao was heavily criticized on social media for calling VP Leni Robredo’s supporters “Pinklawan”.
“Balot ng sama ng loob ngayon ang supporters ng Leni-Kiko tandem o mas kilala sa mga Pinklawan pero saan nga ba sila nagkamali dahil ang inaasahan nilang tagumpay nauwi sa masakit na pagkatalo.”
