Why You Should See It:
There is no shortage of lighthearted fun and comedy in GMA Network’s newest sitcom on weekend. In Jose and Maria’s Bonggang Villa, which is also Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes’s (a.k.a. DongYan) comeback project. Mystery and laughter combine, and the weirdness of each character is just a pure bliss you won’t say no to.
Helmed by comedian-actor-turned-director, John ‘Sweet’ Lapus, Jose and Maria’s Bonggang Villa follows the titular characters Jose (Dantes) and Maria (Rivera), as they try their luck in running a bed and breakfast (BNB) business. Jose, an entrepreneurial genius, was recently shunned by her mother for marrying Maria, a cheerful florist, whom Jose’s mother, Mommy Janice (Pinky Amador) dislikes.
Jose’s gracious and generous grandfather, Lolo King (Johnny Revilla), offered him a chance to redeem himself by lending him a money to start a new business. Jose and Maria now have the chance of impressing the former’s mother, if they are able to transform their abandoned and notoriously haunted family villa, into a booming BNB business.
At first, the couple thought they have nailed the challenge, but mysterious incidences begin to happen at the villa. The BNB staff members have also the weirdest behaviors. Maria, being the only one with an apparent extrasensory perception (ESP), seems to not mind the roaming spirits at all, especially when she already befriended one of them.
Jose and Maria’s Bonggang Villa is also a fantasy show, but it is one filled with sweet warmheartedness. It is that mix of breezy and hilarious feeling that makes you laugh your heart out, while you’re also getting those beautiful inspirational takeaways that the show imparts. Of course, the real magic still comes from that mesmerizing chemistry that real-life couple Dingdong and Marian have, but those extra comic and sugary energy provided by the rest of the cast, are surely a welcome excess.
Jose and Mara’s Bonggang Villa airs on GMA Network’s Saturday Primetime line-up, after Pepito Manaloto. Watch the official full trailer below:
