On May 18, seasoned actor Ian Veneracion explained why he joined OPM singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid’s talent management arm, ATeam.
In a press conference, Veneracion said he felt flattered with how much Alcasid believed in the seasoned actor when he got into music.
“No, because si Ogie, nagulat ako because when I went into singing, ayun nga I’m not known for being a singer, I’m an actor talaga, my wholelife. And then, I’m so flattered na si Ogie, an accomplished singer-songwriter, believed in me and actually shed money to produce a concert for me. So parang, ‘Uy, grabe ah!’ I felt the warmth and the acceptance ng ano.”
He also cited the warm welcome he received from Alcasid and the other OPM artists in the country.
“Syempre ‘yun ang mahirap, mahirap mong makuha ‘yung tiwala ng mga nandoon na. So I’m just so happy that they welcomed me in the music industry with open arms. ‘Yung mga idol natin sa pagkanta, laging pagnakikita ko sila, ‘Oh Ian, you’re doing music now.” Ganito ganyan, sobrang welcoming. So nakaka-encourage ‘yun kasi syempre alam kong bago pa lang ako sa music.”
He then highlighted the support he received from the ATeam, especially with his venture into Pinoy Music.
“Very supportive in all the ways, for example sabihin ko may naisip akong concept for a concert, ganito ganyan, and ‘yun find the right sponsors the right people, they help me with everything.”
He also revealed how the talent management arm handles his acting career.
“Ganon ‘yung support. And pagdating sa movies and sa acting career ko naman, ako naman ‘yung namimili ng projects din na gusto ko gawin. Or ‘yung mga kaibigan natin sa showbiz na mga directors, na mga other actors, pag kinukuha tayo ako din naman nagde-decide nun.
“ATeam is just there for the support and I really appreciate it kasi nga it takes– it’s a job for a whole team talaga. Hindi naman kaya ng isang tao ‘yung buong support na nabibigay ng management team.”
As for his contract with the talent management arm, Veneracion described it as ‘super light’ and ‘a mutual desire to work with one another.’
“Kami naman super light, super light ang arrangement namin, may kontrata ba kami?
“It’s mutual–our desire to work with each other is mutual. And, in fact, any point one of us, hindi satisfied, wala kami–we’re not bound to force it ‘yung ganon. Kasi nga it’s out of friendship so pag ganon very light at tsaka nandoon ‘yung partnership dahil gusto namin pareho.”
Veneracion recently released his Pinoy Rock-inspired single, ‘Ninuno, with the help of ATeam. Aside from that, the seasoned actor also teased his upcoming Netflix series.
