Kapuso dramas airing on GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime block have shown massive improvement in TV ratings in the past few weeks.
GMA Network’s afternoon dramas are making strides in the rating game after getting stuck in the 4-6% range in the past few weeks. Results from AGB Nielsen National Urban TV Measurement (NUTAM) data indicate that all Afternoon Prime Shows are tracking an upward trend in viewership.
Among the three original dramas of Afternoon Prime, the Rhian Ramos and Kris Bernal-starrer impressed the most, as its people rating went from 5.8% on May 16, 6% on May 17, to 7.6% on May 18. It sheds light on the curious, now repealed article of the revised penal code, which gives a legally married person an excuse to kill or gravely injure their partner caught having sex with another person. The show is Kris Bernal’s comeback series on GMA Network after her short TV5 stint.
Raising Mamay also notably adjusted with 5.1%, 5.3% and 6% people ratings, respectively. Starring Ai-Ai de las Alas in the title role, the afternoon series follows the relationship of a mother and a daughter when the former suffered brain regression due to an accident. The series features StarStruck alumna Shayne Sava in her first starring role.
Apoy Sa Langit remains below 5%, but it is interesting to note that it also improved from 4.7% on May and May 17, to 4.9% on May 18. Among the three shows, the Zoren Legaspi and Maricel Laxa-led drama contains the most mature theme, which pretty much explains the lower viewership it’s getting. That said, there is still room for the show’s TV rating to take off as events on the show are yet to get more intense.
While viewership for the Afternoon Prime dramas has gone higher, Eat Bulaga still struggles to go higher than 5%, as TV ratings throughout the same period are rated as follows: 4.2% on Monday (May 16), 4.0% on Tuesday (May 17), and 3.8% on Wednesday (May 18).
