Kapuso star Gil Cuerva voiced his thoughts on the phrase ‘Respect my opinion’ on May 13, which got typically used by netizens on social media.
On his twitter account, Cuerva criticized the mentality of calling for respect when receiving criticisms, especially with false statements.
He noted that people who used this statement as a defense refused to acknowledge that they were wrong or at fault.
“Respect my opinion” is the dumbest argument ever. When you say that, all it really means is that you have nothing to argue about, you know you’re wrong, but refuse to acknowledge you’re wrong so you use some kind of fallacious statement to shield you when you’re called out. Lol.
