On Thursday, April 28, Filmmaker GB Sampedro argued that intimate scenes exist in sexy films not to be just “fillers.”
Sampedro helmed Viva’s sexy films High on Sex, Kinsenas Katapusan, Crush Kong Curly. His latest work is the upcoming movie Doblado.
He said that sex scenes were added not because they had time or space to fill.
“Ako naman, sa lahat ng pelikula ko na may sex scene, I make sure na itong mga sex scenes na ito ay kumbaga mga needed scenes lang para sa istorya. Ang pinaka-main focus ko doon sa paggawa ng pelikula is the story,” he explained during the virtual media conference of Doblado.
The award-winning director continued, “So ito, added elements lang dahil kailangan sa istorya.”
He knew the risks involved. Sampedro said that he takes it to himself to be responsible and protect his talents as they “form an art.”
“Ako kasi, I know na mahirap—para sa mga artista na gumawa ng mga sexy scenes. So I make sure na na-assure ko sila na kumbaga parang itong ginagawa natin is art.
“Hindi ito parang gumagawa lang tayo ng kalokohan dito sa set na gagawa tayo ng mga sexy scenes, gagawa tayo ng mga love scenes.
“I make sure kasi na protected ko sila and kumbaga ginagalang ko ang pagkatao ng bawat artista na dumadaan sa akin,” stated the director.
He also wants to give back by helping them in their respective careers.
“Gusto ko yung feeling nila after nila magawa ‘yong eksena, is nakagawa sila ng isang eksena na very important, na isang eksena na magmamarka para sa kanila. Hindi siya magmamarka dahil lang sa sexy scene siya.”
Doblado is starred by actor Josef Elizalde and newbie Denise Elizalde. It also includes Kier Legaspi, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Jiad Arroyo, Gwen Garci, and Stephanie Raz.
After working with them, Sampedro was confident that the cast was “perfect.”
“Ang masasabi ko lang dito sa cast ng Doblado, they are all into the project. Kasi nga naghanda sila for the project. So napaka-professional nilang actors. So for me, parang hindi ako nagkamali sa mga nai-cast dito sa Doblado,” he said.
The movie will make its world premiere via Vivamax this May 6.
