ABS-CBN’s highly-anticipated drama, which serves as Ivana Alawi’s first lead-starrer, is set to debut on various Kapamilya platforms this year.
More than three years since she was last seen in an acting project, seasoned dramatic actress and ‘90s icon, Dawn Zulueta, is returning to the showbiz limelight. Zulueta is among the biggest actors to play one of the major roles, in the upcoming ABS-CBN series, A Love Affair.
Zulueta, 53, was last seen on a TV series in 2018 via FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, where she played Marissa Hidalgo, the first wife of President Oscar Hidalgo (Rowell Santiago). He also appeared in a guest role, on GMA Network’s reality sitcom, Pepito Manaloto in 2019, as well as in the Michael V-directed comedy film, Family History.
The most recent teaser trailer of the TV series A Family Affair gave a glimpse of the character Zulueta is going to play, although reports suggest she is portraying the mother of the four lead male characters played by Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby, Jake Ejercito, and Jameson Blake.
Produced by ABS-CBN’s Star Creatives production unit, A Family Affair marks the first time sultry actress, Ivana Alawi, is taking on a lead role. She was last seen playing a major teleserye role via the Jodi Sta.Maria-starrer, Sino Ang May Sala: Mea Culpa in 2019. She was announced to lead a TV series in 2020, but she rejected the project because of pandemic concerns. That project, which became ‘La Vida Lena’, was eventually handed to Erich Gonzales.
It is also interesting to note that A Family Affair is originally the series slated to be starred by Bea Alonzo, when she was still with ABS-CBN. Among the previously announced actors to take on the four Estrella brothers, only Jameson Blake carried on to portray his role.
The series is set to air and stream on various ABS-CBN platforms in the second half of 2022.
