On May 12, seasoned actress and former ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio recalled getting her first insurance policy with her eldest.
During the media conference for her upcoming show, Shine On, Overseas Pinoy, Santos-Concio cited the importance of having insurance when she started having a dependent.
“After giving birth to my first son, nagpa-insure na ako. ‘Yung sinabi nga ni Kari no, pag may dependent ka na.
She wanted to make sure her dependents had financial protection if anything happened to her.
“So I was 27 years old when I had my first insurance policy–life insurance policy, kasi mayroon ka ng ibang iniisip di ba? Hindi lang sarili mo, mayroon ka ng dependent. So gusto mo mang i-assure na kahit ano at ano man ang mangyari sayo mayroon namang proteksyon ang iyong naiwan.”
She then shared her experience when her father passed away when she was 22 and cited how an insurance policy helped their family.
“Kasi na-experience din namin yan noon kasi, my father passed away at a very young age–he was only 49 years old. And we were six in the family, and my mother was a non-working housewife and mother.
“So, ‘yung insurance policy niya ang nagtawid sa amin doon sa initial years after passing away. So parang bata pa lang ako and I was 22 years old when I lost my father, so bata pa lang ako alam ko na ang kahalagahan ng life insurance. =”
The Maalaala Mo Kaya host introduces her newest talk show, Shine On, Overseas Pinoy, wherein she talks with OFWs and their experiences about financial management.
