Not only did the Leni-Kiko tandem break its ‘own’ record twice, but the vice-presidential and presidential pair also managed to do the feat in barely 24 hours.
The presidential and vice-presidential campaign of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan further spikes in momentum as the May 9 national polls finally comes close. Opinion poll numbers and online interest for both Robredo and Pangilinan have been steadily rising, which many supporters take as an indicator for the pair’s shot at winning the forthcoming election.
After mustering 140,000+ strong Kakampinks in the province of Bulacan on April 27, Vice President Robredo and Senator Pangilinan were greeted by an even bigger crowd in Laguna two days later. The local PNP and the organizers themselves, pegged the crowd size of the Tanglaw Laguna People’s rally in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, on April 29 at 225,000. That figure was enough to clinch the crown from Pampanga, where the same tandem saw more than 220,000 Kakampink supporters in attendance.
That crown, however, did not stay as long as the Lagunenses probably wanted to, as Batangueños proved their might by erasing Tanglaw Laguna’s record before night time the following day. When Robredo spoke to the mammoth crowd, local PNP and the local organizers reported that at least 280,000 people were within the venue’s premises. Some reports also claim that that figure even went up to as high as 300,000.
That said–it is still lower than the massive 412,000 crowd mustered in Pasay on April 23, but is notably more than enough to make the Batangas rally the biggest among people’s rallies that the Leni-Kiko tandem attended in provinces.
Batangas, however, is not assured of keeping the crown longer than Laguna did, as the Caviteños are all geared up to break that record on Labor Day, May 1.
With Dasmariñas as its site, the Cavite 2.0 has undeniably–a good chance to set yet another fresh record, as the Barzagas, the city’s most prominent political clan, back Robredo’s presidential campaign.
