The new iWantTFC x Kumu series highlights the brimming chemistry of what could be the fastest rising onscreen tandem this year — KDLex.
The wonders and milestones ABS-CBN has created in the past two years, amid the pandemic and the devastating challenges brought upon the network by its free TV shutdown–have shown an awe-inspiring feat.
The circumstance has practically turned things around to its favor as if it was like a phoenix that came back to life after getting almost reduced to ashes.
That said, a lot still needs working on for its full recovery. It’s a fact that seems to drive the Network to discover and make new stars and love teams, hence the rise of KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad, a.k.a. KDLex.
Estrada and Ilacad were fresh from their Pinoy Big Brother exit–poised to impress as a love team via their first acting project, Run To Me.
There may be infinite reasons why the public should give the tandem the chance to prove their worth, but these five reasons will make the audience say ‘I’m sold’ to the pairing.
First project as KDLex. Viewers of the celebrity edition of the current Pinoy Big Brother season noticed right away that Estrada and Ilacad fit better as a romantic pair than platonic ‘best of friends as they first projected to be inside the house.
It was not a surprise that ABS-CBN explored the possibility of pairing them and gave the fans ‘Run To Me’ almost right away.
Dwein Ruedas-Baltazar directs it. Writer-director Ruedas Baltazar has directed some of the most memorable lighthearted romcoms that viewers have seen in a while– and it included Marry Me, Marry You, and the iWantTFC series, Uncoupling.
She also wrote the massively successful ‘hugot’ film, Exes Baggage, and had the movie sequel of the hit boys’ love drama, Hello Stranger–as her first commercial film. Her delightful choices are not surprising anymore in Run To Me, given her track record of pulling off heartwarming and breezy dramas.
It’s a co-production between Dreamscape Entertainment and Kumu. For the first time ABS-CBN’s entertainment unit Dreamscape Entertainment, partnered with the Filipino streaming app giant, Kumu, in producing the series. Kumu is notably ABS-CBN’s partner in producing the 10th season of Pinoy Big Brother, which both Ilacad and Estrada are part of. Currently, the series is being streamed both on iWantTFC and Kumu.
The series boasts a star-studded cast. Run To Me’s cast is comprised of a mix of established and up-and-coming stars. Aside from Ilacad and Estrada who lead the series, Nikki Valdez, Pewee O’Hara, Mickey Ferriols, and Malou Crisologo heads the show’s senior cast members. Up-and-coming stars including Haira Palaguitto, Karl Gabriel, Madam Inutz, Margaux Montana, Sean Tristan, Alex Macanan, and Vien King, are also part of the show. CJ Navato, Ross Pesigan, and Ivan Carapiet also play special roles.
Run to Me follows a familiar yet irresistibly beautiful love story. Admittedly, Run To Me is nothing like you’ve never seen before. But it should feel essential, given that we’re all suckers for a feel-good romcom. Viewers should also note that this series will explore and surely take advantage of KDLex’s brimming chemistry, so be ready to be sent to a ‘kilig’ frenzy.
Run To Me can now be streamed on iWantTFC. Watch out for new episodes every Friday on Kumu and iWantTFC. Don’t forget to share your thoughts about the series in the comment section:
