Former National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA Chief) and broadcast journalist Solita Garduño Collás-Monsod, a.k.a. Winnie Monsod, publicly endorsed Vice President Leni Robredo for the presidency in a campaign ad uploaded via Solid Leni Bicol social media accounts on April 4.
In the campaign ad, Monsod vouched for the Vice President and shared why she chose VP Leni to be the next President of the Philippines.
Monsod enumerated the best qualities of VP Leni that make her the best candidate to be the next chief executive of the country.
She highlighted Robredo’s law and economics degrees.
“Sya lang ang may kakayahan sa law and economics.”
The economist-columnist also stressed Robredo’s integrity and unblemished track record in public service.
“She has integrity, di kurakot, di sinungaling.”
And VP Robredo’s genuine desire to serve the country and its people.
“Yung iba kasi gusto lang maging Presidente for the power. Si Leni, gusto maging Presidente to serve the people.”

Monsod has always supported VP Leni Robredo.
During the 2016 national elections, Monsod was also one of the vocal supporters of the-then Congresswoman Robredo who ran for Vice President also against Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.
Meanwhile, in an episode of Unang Hirit in 2016, Monsod compared the then candidates Leni Robredo, Chiz Escudero, Alan Cayetano and Bongbong Marcos.
According to Mareng Winnie, among the candidates, she knows very well were Chiz, Alan, and Leni.
She said, Chiz, Alan, and Leni were her students at UP; but she knew Robredo more because she studied at the UP School of Economics.
For Marcos Jr, she said she was once called to the Malacañang Palace to tutor the young Marcos because he’s having a hard time with economics subject.
“Si Bongbong Marcos naturuan ko na rin. Kasi nung nasa England sya medyo hindi nya naintindihan ang economics pinapunta ako sa palasyo.”
